Intel

Its been a tough couple days out of the water.  The onslaught of high temperatures has put a spike in water temperature that has the local waters hovering at almost 70 degrees from inshore out to stellwagen and down teh backside.  Add in high humidity and you have thick fog across Massachusetts waters that is sticking aroiund all day due to the high dew points.  If you have been out recently this is what you are going to see.

Bass are settling into their summer feeding patters and are hunkered tight to the bottom.  The commercial fleet is having as tough time finding keepers as there are mainly sub legal (<34") fish from barnstable up to race point and along the backside.  We were out yesterday and found no sings of life once you got past peaked hill and we traveled south of the golfball to highland light.

On the offshore scene a few nice tuna were caught on stellwagen by boats out of Plymouth and Green Harbor but they are few and far between.  Theres plentry of bait up on top of the bank and east but the fish especially are not here in numbers yet.

Bait Intel

Mackeral are almost non existance on the west side of the still being caught early off scituate to the north shore.  There is plenty of mackeral on the east side of the bay and on top of stellwagen.  Schools are thick from teh race down to highland light in 100-150 feet of water.

Pogies continue to hang around the shouth shore and are still thick between plymouth and scituate.  The gurnet is holding large school off duxbury beach to Marshfield.  There is not alot of bass with them strangly enough.

Inshore Intel

The canal lit up this past week with 20 - 40lb class fish being caught consistently on majic swimmers and savage sand eels. There are large bass being caught off the poggie schools off boston harbor and the north shore.

Offshore Intel

Tuna moved into Cox's ledge a few days ago feeeding on school of squid.  The activity has picked up on the south side of the vinyard from Cox's east to Chatham.  Been a few fish caught off the sword.  Water temp and bait are more condusive to BF then in cape cod bay right now.

Haddock remains good in the dep water off the east of Stellwagen.

Well offshore the cayon crews are targeting Atlantis as a number of Yellowfin and Bigeye have moved in.
