As we all sit here today struggling to get over how the Bruins blew game 7 at home........ The good news is that the scene on the water has picked up tand the bass fishing is great. . Find the herring right now spilling out of the rivers and theres a chance for some sizable fish being there. Alot of evidence on social of fish up to 40lbs this week.
Tuna season has been slow to start but fish are coming in to the market. Southeast of chatham has had some decent activity as is usual this time of year.
Mass Bay
Haddock - Haddock fishing is still good on the bank as the fish march east for the summer. Not much activity going on in the shoal water as has been the case the pastd few weeks.
1. East of middlebank or bust.
2. Inshore bite still occuring off Scituate off stone ledge in deep water. Inshore fish seem to be moving north to north east over the past few weeks.
Striped Bass action is lights out across buzzards bay and into cape cod bay. Alot of surface feeds and blitzes on river herring coming out of the rivers. Most of the action is on small fish but a few big girls are in the mix. Throwing big plugs to avoid the schoolies has worked well..
1. Scituate ledges fishing well deep trolling macks.
2. Bilingsgate is hit or miss but had a few days this week that were hot. Fish up to 40inches.
3. Race point continues to be loaded with small fish.
Flounder - Flounder bite is good not spectacular.
1. Peddocks, Rainforest and Deer island flats are the name of the game in mass bay boats are crushing them. Alot of schoolies in the area also.
2. Scituate harbor continues to give up a good pick but not limits of fish.
Mackerel are starting to thin out already need to be out on the ledges early to pick up bait. Plymouth, Brantrock and Scituate are a good place to start.
Buzzards Bay/Canal
The Black Sea / Porgy bite is still going strong in Buzzards bay right now
Bass - Still not seeing the quantity of large fish expected around this time of the year.
1. Canal was slow this week but picked up on thursday with fish up to 40 lbs.
Fluke - Legal size fish are starting to get pickup up at Lucas shoals
