There was a push of large bass into New England this past week not coincedently on the New Moon. Although early in the month then usual for my liking this moon cycle gave up a number of nice 30lb class fish with a few toping the scales at 50lb as far north as Boston.
We also saw the start of Tuna season kick off on June 1st. As a reminder this years retention limits are below until period quotas are met. We will post any quota updates as they become available.
General & Charter/Headboat Category

Mass Bay
Haddock - Around this time each year boats start switching from groundfishing the only action in April and May to stripers once they invade the area. Boats putting in the efforts out on middle and easdt of the bank are still doing well on Haddock. The fish havnt completed their trip east to the deep water for the summer and can be had a few miles east of middlebank in the 200-250 ft range.
1. Middlebank is the name of the game in 200 feet of water. Good number of legal fish giving up boat limits.
2. The sneaky inshore haddock bite off Plymouth/Duxbury isnt done yet so dont steam over them heading to the bank. Found a good number of fish 3 miles north east of the off ledge this week. They fish are beelining to the eastd no doubt but can still be had in cape cod bay.
3. Similar inshore bite has occured off Nahant in 145 ft of water
Striped Bass action is hot across teh state.
1. Scituate ledges gave up some nice fish on live macks this week.
2. The fingers was on fire on Sunday with fish up to 30lbs and may in the 30-40" range.
3. Schoolie bite at Race point remains hot the blast of large fish should be up there by the weekend.
Flounder - Flounder bite is picking up with the warmer temps
1. Deer Island flats are the exception and is lights out fishing past few days
2. Scituate harbor fished well last week but more due to boats not heading out in the fog. There are fish to be had here before they move out of the harbor for the summer.
3. Brewster flats continue do wel.
Mackerel Big mackeral aand herring are thick most places with no trouble picking up live bait early.
Buzzards Bay/Canal
The Black Sea bass bite is epic in western Buzzards bay right now with large scup in the mix.
Bass - Large volume of bass in the area with the occasional large fish
1. Canal action is hot right now with fish up to 40" on surface plugs. Boats fishing the west end landed a 40lb fish this week.
Fluke - Legal size fish are starting to get pickup up at Lucas shoals
